Selectly ("we", "us", or "our") provides an AI-powered selection toolbox that lets you highlight text on the web and trigger powerful LLM actions. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website at https://selectly.app (the "Site") and related services (collectively, the "Services").

We collect only what we need to operate, secure, and improve the Services.

1. Account Information (if you create an account)

   • What we collect: name, email, and authentication details.
   • Why we use it: to create and manage your account, and provide support.

2. Subscription and Payments (if you purchase Pro features)

   • What we collect: subscription status, plan, and limited billing metadata. Card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored by Selectly.
   • Processor: Stripe acts as our payment processor and handles card information in accordance with its own policies.

3. Usage and Device Data

   • What we collect: interactions with the Services, pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP), device/browser type, and basic diagnostic logs.
   • Why we use it: to operate, protect against abuse, and improve performance and features.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

   • Cookies/session: used for essential functions like authentication, language (i18n), and theme preferences.
   • Local storage for AI keys: if you add your own LLM API keys and base URLs, they are stored locally in your browser. Your API keys are not uploaded to our servers.

5. Support Communications

   • What we collect: information you send via email or forms, including attachments.
   • Why we use it: to respond and resolve issues.

6. Content You Send to Models

   • When you select text and invoke an AI action, the prompt/content you choose to send will be transmitted to the configured LLM provider using your settings. If you use your own API key, requests are sent from your browser to that provider. If you opt into Selectly-provided models, content may be routed to our infrastructure or our providers to deliver results. We do not retain prompts or results beyond what is necessary to provide the feature unless you explicitly save them.

How We Use Information

• Provide and operate the Services and core features (selection panel, actions, i18n, subscription).
• Personalize experience (language, theme) and remember settings.
• Maintain security, prevent fraud/abuse, and debug issues.
• Communicate with you about updates, billing, and support.
• Comply with legal obligations.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

• Service providers acting on our behalf, such as hosting (e.g., cloud/edge providers) and payments (Stripe).
• Legal and safety: to comply with law or protect rights, security, or property.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. We retain account and billing records as required by law. Locally stored API keys remain only in your browser until you remove them.
